About

Hi, I’m Leila, a Georgia native who is surprised to call herself an artist. My love of the arts started with the theater but I never wanted to be on stage. Starting in high school through my professional career, I’ve held just about every backstage role until I finally settled on the business of theater and live events. I hold both a Bachelor and Masters degree in Arts Administration and have managed or worked in arts centers, theaters and arenas.
Becoming a visual artist has been a journey that happened by accident. Starting with taking a ceramics class in college for an easy A, I picked it back up many years later when I found I needed a hobby to get my mind off work. I quickly fell in love with the community I found in the ceramics studio in addition to the simple joy of creating something beautiful.
After some moves and finding a new studio, I found myself wanting to try something new which led me literally across the hallway to the glass classroom. Here I found bright colors and another community. Just like clay, there are so many things you can do with glass to put it together, make something beautiful and even functional. My style is bold and bright, with a touch of glam. I’m always experimenting and trying to learn new techniques. Most recently, I’ve been rediscovering fiber arts including sewing, hand embroidery and needlepoint. As a child, I spent many hours learning these skills with my grandmother and rediscovering them has been a great exercise in slowing down.
